Tools and Resources

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) can be applied to therapy and coaching and  is a powerful tool for integrating memory, emotions, beliefs and body sensation in order to process experience.  The use of bi-lateral sound and/or sensation  allows more access to images and seeing things in a new way that  can provide creative insight.  People often have an increased sense of understanding, integration and connecting the dots in their lives.  It can help find and shift key limiting beliefs. I draw upon the protocols of this modality to  develop more awareness of our inner experience in the body and  identify practical steps for change.

Alpha-Stim is an aid for relaxation utilizing a cranial electrotherapy stimulation (CES) device that delivers a natural level of microcurrent, via small clips worn on the earlobes, through the brain to stimulate and modulate specific groups of nerve cells. The microcurrent is tiny, just millionths of an ampere, and so gentle that most people don’t even feel it. The patented Alpha-Stim waveform, application, and protocols result in significant anxiety relief and resulting health benefits. I find beginning with a short session with the Alpha-Stim allows people to relax and have more clarity.

Somatic Mediation breathing and  awareness practices assist in relaxation of the body and nervous system. Learning simple exercises can lead to more connection,  trust in the body and greater self awareness.

The Enneagram is a system of understanding different lenses with which people orient their perspectives and behaviors. “Ennea” means nine and according to this system there are nine different types. Although useful for understanding one’s personality, the enneagram can be a guide for coming into presence through the doorway of habitual patterns of thought and feeling unique to one’s type. Working with these somatically can accelerate the path to the authentic self.

Polyvagal Theory developed by Dr Stephen Porges has been revolutionizing the way we understand the vagus nerve and our autonomic nervous system. I bring tools and educational resources from my training with Deb Dana, LCSW that help  “befriend the nervous system”  with practical ways to self-regulate and gain greater self knowledge.
